Difficulties in the transformation of institutional care (192 kB) - This material was elaborated on the basis of subject matters provided by a number of providers of social services of both, institutional and non-institutional type. The enumerated difficulties belong to those that were encountered by the providers or are expected to be faced during the realization of steps leading to the transformation of institutional care. The original purpose was to map legal difficulties of the transformation of institutional care. Nevertheless, the practice is demonstrating us, that legal difficulties alone are not representing the real obstacles to fundamental changes in institutional care.

The 2nd stage of the project (September 2009 – December 2010) included a three-day course in Kiev named “Quality in Social Services and its Implementation in Practice“. Representatives of all three partner counties took part in the course – social workers from organizations focused on issues of people with learning difficulties. The course was supervised by experts from Slovakia who prepared the textbook for this purpose.

The textbook in Ukrainian you can download here (dokument Adobe PDF)here (434.3 KB).

5 new examples of good practice were collected (2 from the Ukraine, 3 from Slovakia) which focus more on cases of individual people than on whole facilities. See the left menu.
